Keep your Home Efficient during Winter!

meganb760

We wanted to share a few tips on how to keep your home safe and efficient this winter. While we normally have minimal days with freezing temperatures in Louisiana, it is always a good idea to keep you heater and home prepared.

  1. Maintain your heating system: Make sure your furnace is in good working order. Its always a good idea to have it serviced to ensure everything is running efficiently, keeping your home warm and your energy bills lower.

  2. Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors: Even without extreme cold, using your heater and other appliances more often means its crucial to ensure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly.

  3. Seal gaps and cracks: Drafty windows and doors can cause heat loss. Check for gaps around windows and doors and seal them with weather-stripping or caulk to keep your home cozy.

  4. Clean your ceiling fans: While ceiling fans can help cool your home in the summer, they can also help circulate warm air in the winter. Make sure the fans are set to run clockwise at a low speed to push warm air down into the room.

Additionally, when freezing temperatures are forecasted, be sure to wrap any exposed pipes to prevent freezing.

As always, if you have any questions regarding your home value or are ready to make a move, we are here to help you!
